I am on Keto diet on and off for a couple of years, and I’m nothing but grateful. I’d lost weight and become nippier and stepped down from being borderline type 2 diabetes. My joints are functioning smoothly, especially when I am out running.
I need less food and feel great most of the time. Till last summer I went for a long break. I was always out with my friends and it was kind of impossible to keep my keto diet on and going.
My joints started to feel stiff again, like rusty hinges if you may. I was not feeling as sharp as I used to. But there was a reward to that. My libido jumped through the roof and I was wondering why. Till I got back and gotten myself on the track again. Not that I personally feel lacking in this subject, but it was nice to feel 18 again.
Meanwhile, a lot of people benefit from ketogenic diet like they lose weight and even increase their libido further down the road. I found some people are complaining about decreased sex drive. Although because of demand in the market people are getting into it evermore. So I decided to write my own experimental journey. And give you a predictive of what you could do to midget the downside.[r]
What Is Ketogenic Diet
The general idea of being in Ketosis is to consume between 20 to 50 grams of carb daily, any type doesn’t really matter. And the moderate amount of protein which is one gram per kilo of the body weight. The rest should come through healthy fats from %60-%80 of your daily calorie intake.
What it does, in a nutshell, is the liver Strats to produce ketones to use fat as a source of energy. Therefore it burns fat 10 times faster than any other diets around. It also has tons of other benefits some proven and some controversial.
From what I researched and understood a low-fat diet can cause hormonal imbalance in men and women. A low-fat diet can reduce testosterone production. The hormone which is responsible for sexual desire.[r]
In women though, low estrogen levels could have a negative impact on their sex drive like vaginal dryness, mood swings, fatigue, and etc..[r]
High In Healthy Fat
In fact, a good amount of healthy fat can help to level up the testosterone and estrogen by %12 to %13 one study shows. [r]
Trans Fat, Like Soybean Oil, Vegetable Oils Are killing Your Sex Drive
These are unhealthy dangerous fats you should avoid at all costs not only if you were on Keto, but if you want to live healthily and furthermore if you wanted to increase your libido. Please read the labels in the supermarket instead of checking your Instagram feed.
Transitioning To Keto
But during and after transition every one is responding differently to this diet, and that is totally normal. You will learn your body language if you are listening to it. My advice is not to change a bunch of things altogether. But instead, change or implant one thing at a time and monitor your body response.
This diet can change the way your body communicates to make energy by transforming fat into fuel rather than the carb. So, first of all, don’t look for a big change instantly and get disappointed altoghether. You have to be patient. I’ll pay off.
Keto Boosts Your Self-Steam
The more you get into Keto, the better your body looks. So you most likely become more comfortable to take your clothes off and jump into the bed.
You’ll feel more desired, and wanted. That’ll boost your self-steam emotionally. Not to mention physically you can try other positions in the bed to add a little bit of spice to your sexual activity.
Feeling Sex drive on ketogenic diet read the following
You are getting too much protein
It’s very common to fall into this category. You probably eating too much meat products or eggs. Although your body is most likely too alkaline (yes you heard it right) to get rid of the excess protein. Especially if you are having a problem in your digestion or you’re constipated. To fix that just add 1-2 tsp Apple-cider vinegar in a cup of look warm water and drink it first thing in the morning. It’s best if you do that before having each main meals during the day.
Your Cortisol Level Is Too High
Feeling stressed out, your eyelid is twitching, having an irregular heartbeat, or insomnia. These are all signs that your cortisol level is too high. Stress is the number one killer in the word even more than smoking, accidents, and cancer alone. Try to meditate and quiet your mind. Take a wake in nature. You also can use lavender essential oil. Put 1-2 drops in one palm and use your fingertips to rub it on your both temples gently. Use magnesium in the form of Epsom salt in the bath. You can use the ingestible form or body lotion . Eating adaptogen herbs like Lion’s Mane, Ashwagandha KSM-66[most potent form], Chaga, and Rishi mushrooms either in the tea or supplement from also tremendously will help you calm down. Slow down, Life isn’t that serious as you think it is. Don’t listen to the news. Believe it or not, if you weren’t following Eyewitness News that poor guy still had shut and dropped dead in the Bronx.
You might Be In Transitioning
After 12 hours of restriction, your body starts to make a decision to where the heck it is going to do to make the fuel from.
That will cause craving, mood swing, fatigue and in some people even flue like sensations. When you got there pat yourself on the shoulder. You are doing it. And if you persist enough the symptoms will go away. In most cases in a day or two. Think it as an investment plan on your body health. You could start this diet with those you feel close to, to support each other.
Excessive drinking not only can damage your liver, it’ll also poison your sex drive.
Some research even shows alcohol can lead to erectile dysfunction.[r]
This isn’t just for men, alcohol could diminish women stimulation around the vaginal area and that even could lead to infertility.[r]
So meanwhile you enjoying with your friend it’s best to keep moderation. And yes, not all alcoholic drinks are allowed if you are on the keto diet.
Lastly, I have to say the benefits of being in Keto diet is so rewarding that I just don’t see to quit anytime soon. Unless the science proves otherwise in the future.
